We all know that Christmas is very different this year, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate the season. With plenty of merry experiences to enjoy, such as Christmas at the Castle, the festive markets, and twinkling arcades, it’s a great time to visit the magical city and bring some Christmas cheer to 2020!
Christmas at the Castle, Castle Street: 12 November – 3 January
This year, instead of Cardiff’s usual Winter Wonderland, Cardiff Castle is hosting an abundance of outdoor festive activities! The main attraction is the 200m open-air Ice Walk. Tickets are £11 for adults and must be pre-booked online, which you can do.
On top of this you’ll be able to wrap up warm and enjoy the 33m big-wheel, plus many fairground rides and games. There’s also an alpine food and drink area, whereby you can order from your favourite food stall using the Yoello app and have it delivered straight to your ski hut or picnic table!
Cardiff Christmas Markets, The Hayes: 12 November – 23 December
The streets of the capital host a variety of Christmas market stalls and exhibitors that bring a sense of magic to the city. Many will find wonderful gifts for Christmas here – from food and drink, to clothing, jewellery, candles, home deco, paintings, handicrafts, and much more.
The beautifully decorated, wooden stalls along The Hayes have been popular in Cardiff for many years and a visit is a Christmas-must.
Festive Quarter, Working Street: 12 November – 31 December
Once you’ve worked up your thirst and appetite from all that shopping, you can pop by the German-style Bierkeller and Bratwurst Grill to fuel up. Here you’ll get to try speciality sausages, plus a variety of ales and mulled wine!
